Today's review and giveaway is for We Choose Virtues Parenting Cards perfectly geared for the homeschool family.
The back of the card features "Teachable Moments for (virtue) families", the definition of the virtue, a virtue user challenge and "What to say after"I'm Sorry"?. Each card also features a character, a kid from VirtueVille that the children can easily relate to.
The 12 virtues to be learned are patience, forgiveness, self-control, obedience, honesty, helpfulness, gentleness, diligence, perseverance, attentiveness, kindness and contentment.
We Choose Virtues, a family-run company that believes in inspiring children to learn virtues for life, produces several tools to teach virtues to children in a fun and easy way. We Choose Virtues Parenting Cards - Faith based is the first tool the parent can use to teach virtues.
HOW OUR FAMILY USED IT:
Although every purchase comes with a downloadable Teacher's Guide, it is very easy to use these cards for the family. Each card has complete instructions with only a few minutes of preparation time for the homeschool mom. It is suggested that these be taught for 10 minutes a day everyday. I am going to show here what we did with the virtue - Forgiving.
First, we read the catchphrase together - “I choose to love when others hurt me”, next is a short discussion on the statement of what it is not, and memorizing the Bible verse together.
After this I shared some personal experiences of forgiving and not forgiving. Then we did the suggested activity which is to write or draw with crayons on a piece of bond paper something that another person said or did in the past that hurt each one of us.
The instruction is to erase the hurtful words which signified forgiveness. Of course, erasing words written with crayons will not totally remove the words, just made smudges of them. So the explanation is that though we will not totally forget it all, we can always choose to forgive.
In doing this, I hit on a way to take this lesson further by illustrating God's forgiveness. I took a clean piece of bond paper and covered the paper with words. I explained this to mean that this is the blood of Jesus Christ that totally covered our sins. When we ask for forgiveness, God will cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Even if this was a lesson meant to be fun and easy, I can tell that this lesson touched each of my children deeply. After this, they asked me to have a We Choose Virtues lessons everyday.

It saddens me to hear some parents, grandparents and elders condemn a child for his bad attitude. When I look at the child they're talking about, the little one is only about 2 years old. Some people seem to think that the bad attitudes or naughtiness of little children will set them up for life. As if the attitude will definitely be with them and there is no hope of teaching the child to develop his/her character.
I definitely don't agree with this and believe that children are like clay in their parent's hand. We parents have the ability, the capacity and the God-given privilege of molding a child's character to help them develop into better or Godly persons when they grow up. Though any child is born with a sinful nature, we can teach them better character, better virtues.

I would use these before we begin school each day and as reminders are needed through out the day - my children sometimes have poor attitudes but I also know sometimes it's what I'm teaching them through my attitude so it'll be good for all of us.

The I choose virtues card would just complement our character training where I just choose 1 character trait to learn for a month. Thanks in advance if I do win.

I would use the Virtues Card as my starter curriculum to teach character traits. I plan to do it to start the homeschool schedule for the day.

These Virtues Cards would be perfect for our homeschooling! It would compliment our lapbook studies dealing with the Fruits of the Sprit and our Spotlight on a Bible character of the week. By using these cards for additional lapbooking ideas and "in between subjects" activities, these virtues will be more meaningful to my kids as they identify with the children from Virtueville. I'm sure not only will my children develop more positive attitude/character, so will their teacher - myself!
I would use them for our homeschool. I think I would focus on what card a week, and plan activities around each virtue.
I would use it right after we have our daily devotions and we will talk about the character for the day. we will follow the suggested activity and hopefully, the parenting card faith based will be a good guide for us to follow in the new year!
I would share these virtues cards with my sister to my niece and nephew. Truly character traits is the only way to go to ensure and prepare our children in their younger years and adult life.

These Virtue Cards would perfectly aid us in our devotion and character for the month lessons. The characters in VirtueVille are just terrific as Im sure my kids can identify/relate with them, making the learning process more fun, real and meaningful. Im looking forward to funtimes with my kids as we all learn together and model these 12 virtues with the aid of "We Choose Virtues Parenting Cards".
These virtues cards would be a great asset to our homeschool. Right now, virtues, character and Godliness are what we're trying to focus on in "school." :) Thanks for hosting this giveaway sis! Godbless always! :)
