Most people I know use planners. I know that many of us make use of digital apps but there is really just something about writing things down, right? For years, I have been a loyal sticker collector of this popular coffee shop planner. I‘ve become so good at collecting stickers that I’m able to claim about 3 planners every year. That’s a lot of coffee, I know.  The funny thing is that I don’t really use my planners as planners. I use them more like journals where I write down my future plans. This year, I have not been so aggressive in collecting stickers. The reason? I found a new planner. One that does not require me to spend for and drink loads of specialty coffee. It’s the 2015 Daily Interact Certified Positive Planner. I just love this planner! Here are the reasons why: It has a daily Bible Verse Tracker! If reading the Bible daily is important to you, you would appreciate this novelRead more …

Beyond The Silver and The Gold Gets To Know Martine De Luna and a GIVEAWAY

I recently caught up with Martine De Luna, owner of the Manila Work-At-Home Moms group on Facebook, blogger and coach extraordinaire of Dainty Mom and MartineDeLuna.com. With The Wahmderful Weekend coming up in a few days, I wanted all of us to get to know Martine better. Read on and be inspired. By the way, if your read through to the end of this post, there’s a fabulous giveaway for The Wahmderful Weekend. Martine, thank you very much for taking time for our interview today. What were your intentions when you first formed the Manila WAHMs group?  MDL: I wanted to create a true community of work-at-home women in the Philippines. Most of the groups I’d seen out there were spammy and filled with job postings, not real conversations between WAHMs. Eventually, the group grew, and grew even more after I began the WAHMderful Workshops, a collaboration between the WAHMderful Life Community and Manila Workshops. Did you have some doubts/fears before you did it? HowRead more …

The Manila Work-At-Home Moms and The Wahmderful Weekend

One of the things that may affect you while working from home is isolation. In my 11 years of doing almost everything from home, I’ve had to battle the loneliness and isolation that I usually feel. When I do go out, it’s hard to find someone who understood the kind of lifestyle we chose. Most people think that staying at home meant a lot of free hours to do whatever I want, but it is the exact opposite. As a WAHM, my day is super busy. From the moment I wake up to the time I give in to sleep, it’s as if I never stop working. Truth to tell, even homeschool moms are so busy with their own families we hardly have time to meet up. We humans were never created to go at it alone, God specifically created us to need other people. I first knew about Martine de Luna when she was still a very young homeschool Ate Martine. She was thenRead more …

Getting to Know WordPress – A Workshop and GIVEAWAY

Oct 3, 2013 | Posted by in Announcements, Giveaways, Workshop | 13

Everyday I work on this blog to make it work better. When I say ‘work’ I do mean I’m working on learning WordPress better so that I can maximize it to its fullest. So far, I have learned how to install a few widgets and plugins… and that’s just about what I’ve been able to do. I am trying to figure out how to install my Facebook fan page, how to use the sidebar and so many other things that I want to do. Of course, doing an internet search is easy. When I searched for “How to Install Facebook Fan Box on WordPress”, Google returned almost 2 million results. I love to learn new things and I believe there is nothing I don’t know about that I can’t possibly Google. However, I am already spending more hours learning how to work WordPress than blogging! Wouldn’t it be wiser to just attend a class where all you need to know is laid out for youRead more …

The Guardian Duke by Jamie Carie: Book Review & Giveaway

About the Book: The Guardian Duke is award-winning novelist Jamie Carie’s most exciting story yet, a uniquely arranged Regency-era romantic adventure where hero and heroine know each other through written letters but have yet to meet. Gabriel, the Duke of St. Easton, is ordered by the King to take guardianship over Lady Alexandria Featherstone whose parents are presumed dead after failing to return from a high profile treasure hunt. But Alexandria ignores this royal reassignment, believing her parents are still alive and duly following clues that may lead to their whereabouts. Gabriel, pressured by what are actually the King’s ulterior motives, pursues her across windswept England and the rolling green hills of Ireland but is always one step behind. When they do meet, the search for earthly treasure will pale in comparison to what God has planned for both of them. About the Author: When she was six, Jamie’s parents met Jesus and soon after started a church. It changed everything. Road trips with her dad—toRead more …

Four Letter Words by Dr. Bill Giovannetti – Book Review and Giveaway

Feb 13, 2012 | Posted by in Book Reviews, Giveaways, Litfuse Books | 0

Four Letter Words: Conversations on Faith’s Beauty and Logic by Dr. Bill Giovannetti ABOUT THE BOOK: Thou shalt tolerate every opinion… except the Christian’s. Today’s postmodern “prime directive” leaves many followers of Jesus tongue-tied. In the global village, isn’t it unreasonable, and even dangerous, to suggest that the Bible has a monopoly on truth? The church needs a new breed of Christ-follower. We need Christ-followers who are alert to today’s touchy ideas, the truths that fire up more heat than light. We need Christ-followers who can make a clear case for the Bible’s worldview; who are ready to help our friends think through their beliefs; who can recognize inconsistencies and challenge them; and who can do all of this with humility, confidence, humor, and love. For more information visit http://fourletterwords.org. THE AUTHOR: Dr. Bill Giovannetti is a professor at A.W. Tozer Theological Seminary and the senior pastor of Neighborhood Church of Redding. An experienced speaker and author, Bill informs the mind in ways that touch theRead more …

A Mile in His Shoes Starring Dean Cain and Luke Schroder – A Family DVD Review and GIVEAWAY!

Feb 13, 2012 | Posted by in DVD Movie Review, Giveaways | 6

A Mile in His Shoes SOMETIMES MIRACLES HAPPEN WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT THEM AND LATE IN THE GAME. Only a miracle can help baseball coach Arthur “Murph” Murphy (Dean Cain) and his losing minor league baseball team. As Murph sets out to recruit new talent for the team, he stumbles upon Mickey (Luke Schroder), a young farmer with an incredible pitcher’s arm. However, Mickey’s parents are reluctant to allow him to join the team because he has Asperger’s syndrome, a form of autism. Murph convinces Mickey’s parents that life in the minor league will benefit their unique son, but he doesn’t realize just how much his new recruit will help the team’s game and, more importantly, their spirit. Based on a true story, A Mile in His Shoes is an inspirational film that celebrates faith, determination and the power of friendship. (Taken from the DVD) MY REVIEW:I thoroughly enjoyed watching this inspirational movie about a baseball coach (Dean Cain),  and his new recruit Mickey (Luke Schroder). AtRead more …
