Taxes on Imported Books Lifted

Good news for us purchasing our books from abroad! Online casino Ireland. ###

President Arroyo has already ordered the lifting of the Philippines law on applying taxes on books that are imported.

Read about it here:  http://budurl.com/philbooktax

Are you aware that anything we purchase abroad and have it shipped here with a declared value of US$50.00 or more are taxed? When I received a box of materials that I will be reviewing, the shipping to Manila cost my vendor over US$50.00. The post office attendant said that even if my vendor declared that the materials have no value and are only used for review, because it cost more than US$50.00 to ship, taxes will still be imposed. So for that box of materials, I had to pay over P2,800.00 or another US$57.00! Apart from that, every time I receive a book in the mail, I have to pay P35.00 for the handling.

This is especially good news for us homeschoolers who like to purchase our books from abroad since taxes can jack up the price of our purchases.

Well, let’s hope that the lifting of this law will be put into immediate effect.
