Calling on Homeschoolers to Pray and Help

For the last two days, Metro Manila and many parts of Luzon has been inundated with the rains of Typhoon Maring. Many of our fellow citizens are suffering. News reports say that this habagat will continue until Thursday or Friday, which will mean that the floods will continue. As I write this, the rains outside our home is pouring hard. But unlike last night, it does not pour continuously and that is a relief.

So for all of us who are safe and dry at home, may I request you to please take time to pray? Let’s ask the Lord to stop these rains and not let it go on until Friday. Sharing with you my Facebook post this morning:

Last night, I was very anxious because there’s a creek near our home and when the rains pour, it overflows and enters our property. Early yesterday morning, water was already surrounding our home. I slept at about 4:00AM still feeling very anxious. Prayer is never far from my lips.  At 8:00 AM, praise God, the water has subsided. Up to now, it has not come back. But I am worried just the same. What with listening to the news reports of the storm and reading about it online, it’s enough to drive me to an anxiety attack. However, we do have a God who listens to our prayers. So let’s keep on praying to God and asking for His grace upon us. He listens and He acts. All praise and glory to the Lord our God!

In the meanwhile, we can also help from home. I know that most homeschoolers have access to the internet at home. So if you would be willing, we can do something from home:

1. We can pray for the rescue and safety of people on the RescuePH list: http://rescueph.com/. To read more about RescuePH, go here  http://bit.ly/1ajo87J

2. We can help collate information for RescuePH. To know how to do that, go here:

Let’s also be ready for any eventuality. Social media hashtags to watch out for:
#walangpasok > to find out the list of schools that are suspended
#rescueph > if you or anyone you know need rescue (some people have been using this inappropriately by making jokes, please don’t do that)
#safenow > if you or anyone you know has been reported or requested assistance from #rescueph, please tweet and use #safenow to let them know so that resources can be diverted elsewhere
#MaringPH > for news about the storm

God bless everyone! God bless the Philippines!
