Young Hearts Longing for God – A Pre-Inductive Study of the Psalms written by Kim Kargbo is a bible study directed towards 4th to 8th grade students. It has 30 lessons which can be accomplished in 30 weeks and is published by Soli Deo Gloria Resources. This ebook will lead your children and even moms into a deeper study of portions of the Psalms. The writer suggests that each study should be allotted a week to finish so that the children can meditate on the Psalms and think through the passage for the whole week. As such, she includes a page for daily monitoring.

Every lesson has a chapter or a portion of a Psalm to read for the week. Then there is a worksheet that the child can accomplish in about two or three days, and finally there is the journaling portion of the lesson.

Since my kids are older, I let them do it a bit faster. Instead of taking five days to finish a lesson, I let them do it in three days spread throughout the week. The author suggests that we purchase a journal for them to write down their thoughts. But since this is an ebook, what I have done instead was to print journal pages at the back of each page and it has worked out very well.

Reading the instructions, I have wondered at first why the author asks to let the children accomplish each lesson throughout the week. But after trying out a few lessons, I understand now that the author is right. There is a difference in accomplishing a lesson in a day and accomplishing it throughout the week. With the weekly lessons, I have observed my children to be able to meditate on God’s message and try to apply it to their personal lives.

Guitar Babe, 15 years old and Artsy Princess, 11 years old, both needed my help in understanding this study. It’s not something that you can expect the children to read and understand by themselves. But it has been an enjoyable time for us to do this together and to teach the children about God and to love Him more. And even though this is geared for children, even I have learned and enjoyed this study as well!

Young Hearts Longing for God – A Pre-Inductive Study of the Psalms is an ebook available from the Soli Deo Gloria Resources website at $14.50.

TOS Crew Review: Lanschool Technologies

Do you know those movies and TV shows that show how a person’s computer can be controlled remotely by another person from a different location? Cool, right? Watching those shows has always made me wonder how cool that can be, but also at the same time creepy. Hehe! Online casino Ireland. ###

Well, that same technology of remotely controlling another’s computer is positively put to use by Lanschool Technologies. The first time I saw Lanschool in our list of review products, I had wondered how this can be of help to our homeschool. Thankfully, I was blessed to be one of those chosen to use and review this very useful program.

In not so techie words, Lanschool is a program that families with several computers at home can make use of. You know how parents can worry incessantly about the what their children are doing online? With Lanschool, the worries end. By installing Lanschool in all of your computers at home, the parents can monitor what every child is doing on their laptops/computers even if the child is in another room. Not only that, you can send and receive messages to each other all around the house – no need to scream if your child is at the other side of your home.

Another very valuable use of this program is that from the parent computer, the parent can allow or block sites visited and can check on the history of sites visited by keystrokes. Another feature is that from the parent computer, you are able to take control of your children’s mouse and even lock the keyboard. I believe this is cool for us parents but not so for the children. My kids did turn that around one time and locked my keyboard when I was using their laptop! In total, this is a very useful program for families that have several computers at home with children studying on each one.

I have barely scratched the features of Lanschool at this point, but for more of its great features, check it out here. If this is not enough, you can also view video tutorials from here. Lanschool is not only for home use, but is actually offered first to classrooms. The pricing for different products is available here.

The product we received cost $99.00 which gives us a perpetual license with 3 years of customer tech support. I did receive this software for free as a part of the TOS Homeschool Crew in exchange for my review.
